Make It Monday #49: Ghost Masking

Hello,

This week's PTI Make It Monday challenge #49  is ghost masking.  I've never seen this technique before, so it was fun to try something new.  I was also glad to discover Garden of Life again.  Bought it a couple of years ago and have barely used it.  Sound familiar?

The frame  from Mat Stack 1 is not a full-bleed stamp, so I had to do a little finagling to get the borders at the masked area to work properly.  First I die cut the Mat Stack 1 from vellum.  Then I stamped the frame image on the die cut piece and hand trimmed right up to the stamped image.  Next, when I was "ghost" stamping inside the frame area, I found that I had to move the vellum a bit to get it right up against the stamped the frame image.  So every time I stamped an ghost image, I moved the vellum mask around a bit.  Hope that makes sense.  In retrospect, I think it would have been easier to skip the die cutting, stamp the frame image on the vellum, and cut it out with a craft knife.  Or I could have just chosen a full-bleed stamp in the first place!

Thanks for stopping by,
Jennifer

Make It Monday #48: Backgrounds with Border Dies

PTI's Make It Monday #48 challenge is to use border dies to make a background.  My card was inspired by this amazing card by Maile Belles.  I offset the hearts in each row, but think I would stick to keeping them lined up next time.

PTI's Make It Monday #47 challenge is to use any of the 46 techniques they shared in 2011.  Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card this week.  I just kept it clean and simple with a bit of color.  This layout is very similar to a couple of cards from Nichole's blog.

Jennifer

Make It Monday #45: Coloring Embossed Images with Copic Markers

I've looking at this Kleenex box on my desk for a couple of months trying to figure out how to recreate the pattern for a card.  Well, this week's MIM technique worked great!  First I embossed the leaves and larger flowers.  Then I embossed the center of the flowers.  They sort of melted down into the larger flower, but they provided an slight outline for me to follow for coloring the centers with Copics.

Make It Monday #44: Glitter Masking

I'm squeezing in a project just under the wire for PTI's Make It Monday #44 challenge with glitter masking.   My 4-year-old loves to watch the MIM videos with me and wanted to try this technique.  I was surprised at how easy it was to get such a dramatic effect!

We tried stamping a sentiment (my daughter wanted "chirp chirp") with StazOn, but were not successful. Any tips on how to make that work?

Jennifer
