PTI March 2013 Blog Hop: Sequins

This month's Papertrey blog hop challenge is to use sequins.  This challenge gave me a good reason to go shopping as I didn't own any sequins.   And we've got lots of April birthdays in our family, so I used this challenge to start on my birthday card.

For my first card, I was inspired by a color combo from the graphics on a commercial for Oprah's Super Soul Sunday show.  The colors made me think of Funky Florals, so here's the result:

In my second card, I tried to use a color scheme to go with the iridescent sequins.  I'm not in love with the final result.

Thanks for stopping by!

PTI Design Team Inspiration #3

One of PTI's 6th Anniversary challenges is to create projects that inspired by the design team's favorite projects.  This card was inspired by Christina's striped card on this post.

Supplies (PTI unless noted)
Stamps:  Background Basics: Super Stripes, A Big Thank You
Ink:  Tuxedo Black (Memento), Ocean Tides, Aqua Mist, Spring Moss
Paper:  Whisper White (SU!), Ocean Tides
Accessories:  Mat Stack 1 die, Eclipse masking paper

To get the frame around the sentiment, I cut a Mat Stack 1 die from Eclipse masking paper.  I cut the mask in half and overlapped it a bit to get the size right.

I also discovered that a clear ruler works great for the Background Basics: Super Stripes set.  I like this ruler by Tim Holtz.  Couldn't find a stamping block that was long enough, but the ruler with the grid is perfect.   And with a coupon at Mike's, I think it cost about $30.

PTI Sketch Challenge #4

Here's my second project for PTI's 6th Anniversary sketch challenge for sketch #5:

This card did not turn out as I had hoped.  I first embossed the middle size heart from the Heart Prints die set across the bottom of the card.  Then I sprayed Smooch Spritz over the top, but it came out much heavier than I intended.  The embossing is very difficult to see even in real life.  I'm glad I tried it, but don't think I'll be doing it again.

Supplies (PTI unless noted):
Stamps:  Tremendous Treats: Valentine
Ink:  Tuxedo Black (Memento), Smooch Spritz (Cosmic Pink and Pink Sprinkles)
Paper:  white notecard (The Paper Co.)
Accessories:  Heart Prints die

PTI Sketch Challenge #3

Here's my first project for PTI's 6th Anniversary sketch challenge for sketch #5:

Here's my take on PTI's 6th Anniversary sketch challenge for sketch #2:

PTI Blog Hop - Black Backgrounds - January 2013

This month's PTI Blog Hop challenge is to use a black background.  I've been looking at my black and chartreuse Haiku bag  (similar to this one) for awhile thinking that it was good inspiration for a card.  I had this card in my brain and then realized as I was flipping through Pinterest that I must have been inspired by this card by Dawn McVey.

Thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy the hop!
