Ink:  Canyon Clay, Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Paper:  Simply Chartreuse

Make It Monday #76: Double Time Bleaching

Here's my take on PTI's Make It Monday for Double Time Bleaching.  I first tried this technique with the blooms from Flower Fusion, but the graphic flowers didn't work so well with the soft look of bleaching.  So I switched to nature images, which I like much better.

I like the bleach technique although the overhead of dealing with bleach is a bit much for me.  I struggled with stray bleach marks, and I ended up bleaching out some spots on my jammy pants.  : (

Here's my second take on PTI's Make It Monday challenge with graduated backgrounds.  I just got Beautiful Butterflies (love it!) and took my cue on how to layout the butterflies from a card by Jessica Witty.   That card is the one that pushed me over the edge to buy the set.

Make It Monday #56: Die Cutting Partial Images

I should start titling these posts "Make It Sunday" since I always seem to a do a last-minute project on Sunday.  This week's PTI Make It Monday challenge is to use your dies but only cut part of the shape.  Here's my take:

I discovered that this technique doesn't work so well with full-bleed images.  On the bottom portion of the card, you can see that the patterned eggs actually stamp beyond the edge of the die cut.  Oh well.  This card is a tri-fold, so the panel with the eggs folds down.

Thanks for stopping by,
Jennifer

Ink:  Aqua Mist, Spring Moss, Basic Gray (SU!), Copic markers (RV10 and RV13)

PTI's anniversary celebration continues.  Today's challenge is to use one of the freebie printable images designed by PTI's talented stamp designers.  I choose the cute toaster image by Lexi Daly.  It was fun to bust out my Copics.

My plan is to make a Valentine for every day of the challenge so that I actually have some cards when the big day rolls around.

PTI 5th Anniversary - Day 1

Papertrey Ink is kicking off their 5th anniversary celebration today with a challenge to use inspiration from their design team's favorite projects.  I chose Jessica Witty's Valentine-ish project.
And here's my take:

I didn't stray far from her design since I started my project at 10pm tonight.  The color scheme is way outside my normal comfort zone, but I already had the red and orange die cuts on my desk.  (The orange is the negative from the Hearts border die.)  And I really didn't want to haul out my Cuttlebug considering that I should be sleeping.  So definitely not my usual project, but I kinda like it.

Thanks for stopping by,
Jennifer

Supplies (PTI unless noted)
Stamps:  Heart Prints, Background Basics: Circles
Ink:  Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Early Espresso (SU!), Versamark
Paper:  Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Early Espresso (SU!), doily (Wilton)

Make It Monday #49: Ghost Masking

Hello,

This week's PTI Make It Monday challenge #49  is ghost masking.  I've never seen this technique before, so it was fun to try something new.  I was also glad to discover Garden of Life again.  Bought it a couple of years ago and have barely used it.  Sound familiar?

The frame  from Mat Stack 1 is not a full-bleed stamp, so I had to do a little finagling to get the borders at the masked area to work properly.  First I die cut the Mat Stack 1 from vellum.  Then I stamped the frame image on the die cut piece and hand trimmed right up to the stamped image.  Next, when I was "ghost" stamping inside the frame area, I found that I had to move the vellum a bit to get it right up against the stamped the frame image.  So every time I stamped an ghost image, I moved the vellum mask around a bit.  Hope that makes sense.  In retrospect, I think it would have been easier to skip the die cutting, stamp the frame image on the vellum, and cut it out with a craft knife.  Or I could have just chosen a full-bleed stamp in the first place!

Jennifer
