Papertrey Ink Blog Hop - December 2010 - Holiday Leftovers

This month's PTI challenge is "Use scraps of wrapping paper, parts of holiday cards, recycle gift tags or bits of ribbon on a paper crafting project.  We all have plenty of it laying around after all the holiday excitement and this is your chance to incorporate some of those pretty little things into an amazing piece of art!"

I had a scrap of this bright wrapping paper left over.  Just enough to make the two notecards and line the envelopes.  A nice little start to my Christmas thank you notes.

Thanks for stopping by, and have fun hopping!

Papertrey Ink March Blog Hop and Poppyseed Challenge #2

This card is doing double duty for the PTI March Blog Hop and for Lisa Johnson's Poppy Seed Challenge #2.  I needed a baby thank you card, so used Lisa's challenge as a starting point.  Then I realized that the theme of the PTI Blog Hop was buttons and decided to double up.

Nothing exciting with buttons, but I was glad to finally break out my new Baby Button Bits.

My toddler has been playing with my PTI Holiday Button Mix.  She loves sorting the colors and looking at the various buttons.  Of course, she's been losing them, so I finally ordered a jar just for her so I can quit stressing over losing my precious buttons.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the rest of the hop!

PTI Blog Hop - February 2010 - Design Team Appreciation

Hello. PTI's February Blog Hop challenge is "to go through the Design Team gallery or any of the Design Team Members' blogs and find a project that is especially inspirational to you! Then recreate the project with your own spin, making it unique!" I found it hard to decide on a project since all of the DT members create such wonderful things. I decided to use the last card that really jumped out at me, which was this card from Maile Belles:

Here's my take on her card:

I was inspired by the bright color combo and using the outline flower images for a background. In place of the french knots, I used my clear Spica glitter pen to add some shimmer to the flower centers. The shimmer and the bright colors make me think of a hot, sparkly summer day. By the way, I gotta get the Fillable Frames!

Thanks to all of the PTI Design Team members for providing us so much eye candy and inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the rest of the hop!

PTI Embellies Challenge & FTL 78

Oh no!! I just linked back to PTI's challenge page and saw that it said to create a FLORAL embellishment. Darn! Too late to redo things now. Maybe Nichole will have pity on me if my name is actually chosen. : )

PTI's Embellies Challenge was just what I needed to use my new butterfly dies that I got last month. Of course, I feel guilty using SU! products for a PTI challenge.

Nothing original here. I've been seeing various butterflies on blogs for months now. I started out with PTI's new Pretty Pastels patterned paper and then cut more butterflies in coordinating cardstock. Then I stamped or embossed the cardstock butterflies, and sponged the edges on most. Added rhinestones, pearls or Clear Spica glitter pen.

The card uses Fall-to-Layout 73. Perfect for using embellies.

Sorry for the bad photos - late night without good light.

Thanks for stopping by,
Jennifer

CPS Sketch #153

Hello. I made this card for CPS Sketch 153. I've been wanting to try Dawn McVey's vintage flower tutorial, so decided to use it for this card. I was looking through some of the other CPS entries and saw that Katie had the same idea! Very popular right now. I need to pick up a vintage book to see if the paper might crumple up better than cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by,
Jennifer

PTI Paint by Number Challenge

Yikes! I decided to try PTI's Paint by Number challenge. I would never put all of these colors together - definitely outside my comfort zone. Guess that's why it's a challenge. Probably didn't help that I started just before bedtime.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you're enjoying the PTI anniversary festivities.

PTI Emboss Resist Challenge

This card is for the Emboss Resist challenge for PTI"s third anniversary. I had not done this technique in a long time, so it was a good reason to actually use some stamps I've purchased in the past few months.

Vintage is not my style, so I'm not sure how much I like this card. Something seems a little off to me, but it's too late to fiddle any more. I sponged some Creamy Caramel ink on PTI's new white silk ribbon to give it a tea stained look.

I'm glad that I got time to stamp today and try out something different.

Thanks for stopping by!

PTI Blog Hop - January 2010 - The Total Package

Hello. Welcome to the PaperTrey Ink Blog Hop. This month's challenge is "to create a card that has the "total package". Create any style card you can dream up, then take it the next step. Embellish the interior and adorn the envelope. You might even want to add a little something to the back of the card!"

I used the new Rock-a-Bye Baby template to make a card for my co-worker. By the time, I was done with all the cutting, I didn't have much juice left for the decorating! I completely forgot about the envelope, but I did remember a little something on the back from Faux Ribbon. Might have to invest in a digital cutter before long. : )

Supplies (PTI unless noted)
Stamps: Polka Dot Basics II, Mega Mixed Messages, Faux Ribbon
Ink: Bashful Blue (SU!), Spring Moss
Paper: Bashful Blue (SU!), Stamper's Select White, Spring Flowers DSP (SU!)
Accessories: Rock-a-Bye Baby Click Simple template, Spring Moss vintage buttons, DMC floss

CPS Sketch #150

Hello. I finally made time to stamp and created two cards using CPS Sketch #150. I actually used my new SU! goodies the day that the order arrived! That rarely happens.

I've had that retired SU! valentine paper sitting around for years now and have always had trouble using it - mostly because I had trouble finding pink inks that match it (none of the SU! colors seemed quite right). So I ended up just punching everything out of the paper instead of stamping. I was glad to finally find a use for a bit of the paper.

Thanks for stopping by,
Jennifer

Birdie Card

Paper: Apricot Appeal, Almost Amethyst, Certainly Celery DSP, Stamper's Select White (PTI)

Heart card
