Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #2 and Sweet Sunday Sketch #11

Hello! I decided to combine two challenges into one - Dawn McVey's Color Challenge and Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch. This card took me so long that I might as well have made two different challenge cards! The colors were far, far, far outside my comfort zone, and the sketch had more elements than I would normally include on a card. So I stretched myself and in the end made a card that I'm mostly happy with. It just took me a couple of hours.

The colors made me think "tropical," so I did a batik technique. First I stamped and embossed the flowers on mulberry paper. Next I sponged ink around the flowers. Finally, I sandwiched the paper between some scratch paper and put a hot iron it. The heat melts the embossing powder so you're left with the batik look.

The finished card is 8.5"x 3.75".

Jennifer

Color Inspiration #47

Hello.  A quickie post for Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration.  The orange and yellow made me think of a sunset.  I first embossed the flowers on glossy cardstock, and then blended the inks with a brayer to make the sunset.  The finished card is 4"x 6".

Jennifer

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop - March 2009 - Backgrounds

Welcome to my first Papertrey Ink Blog Hop post! I started this blog in February just so that I could participate in PTI events, and I've finally done it. For my background paper, I just did a simple pattern using Polka Dot Basics in bright colors. This was my first attempt at making my own patterned paper. Here it is:

The candy pouch was inspired by Nichole's Wooly Sheep card and a sample that I saw somewhere for the SU! Pillow Box die. This pouch is actually hand cut and scored from a template that got when I was a hobby SU! demonstrator a few years ago.

On a side note, since I've discovered PTI, I've been spending a lot more time stamping and blogging. My husband told me that he's going to start his own blog named "Stampy Widower!"

Thanks for stopping by! I'm off to play with my PTI order that arrived today. : )

I was glad to use up some more pattern paper, and to break into my new Mega Mixed Messages set from PTI. Once again, a card with very little stamping.

Jennifer
