Papertrey Ink April 2009 Blog Hop - My Timeless Templates

The challenge from Papertrey Ink this month is to use of their My Timeless Templates. I used the Filed with Flair template, which I bought last month and intended to use for making April birthday gifts. As usual, it took a challenge to actually get me to use my new purchase.

The side panels were inspired by this project on the Cuttlebug Challenge blog. I used the Crayon Resist technique, coloring with purple crayon on the D'vine Swirl embossed paper. Then I painted over the panel with white acrylic paint, let it dry, and then sanded off some of the paint to expose the purple. Turns out that the swirly flowers from the Women of Life stamp life coordinate quite well with the embossed swirls.

I hope to make a matching Mother's Day card soon.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the blog hop!
Jennifer

CPS Sketch #112

Hello.  I've finally found time to try some sketches again.  Yea!  I've had these Cool Caribbean Long Notes and designer papers for over 2 years now.  Can you believe that I've finally gotten around to making a card with it?  I've had another idea for these supplies bouncing around in my head for over two years also.  Maybe I'll actually make it soon.  I really like how the focal point turned out.  Even added some bling!

Catalin Radio Card

My friend asked me to make a birthday card for her father-in-law, who collects Catalin Radios.  She gave me a handful of photos and here's the one I tried to create on the card:
What do you think?  I was surprised at how well it turned out!  By the way, the pieces on the card image are crooked because I only used temporary adhesive until I knew my friend was happy with the card.  : )

Lauren's Birthday

I can't believe that I haven't posted for 2 weeks!  Farmor and Popie came to visit M (you know the grandparents don't care about us adults now), so I've been busy with family for awhile.  I did manage to make one card for our niece's 4th birthday last week.  This is a combo circle and shaker card.  I'm going to make this post quick so I can go do some stamping!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #3

Hello!  I tried Dawn McVey's color challenge again.  And again, outside my comfort zone.  I finally used my one piece of Groovy Guava cardstock to make this card.  I'd like to learn more about Dawn's comments on the hues in colors.  Not sure if my colors are clashing or not since I would never try this color combo on my own!  Also, I tried out my new EK success punch.  I had the darnedest time lining the paper up with that thing!  Hopefully will get better with some practice.

Jennifer

CPS Sketch #109

Hello.  I needed a birthday card for my sister-in-law, so I took a stab at the CPS Sketch this week.  I finally got a Cuttlebug and some Nesties.  My local craft store told me they are probably dropping the Cuttlebug line because everybody is moving to digital cutters.  Guess I'm really behind the times!  Anyway, I really like how the circles Nesties worked out on this first card.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a good weekend!
